My Childs first panic attack :(
Jun 25th, 2007 by Michelle
Well another successful trip into town today. I had to bring Kenny back to the doctors for a follow-up and another shot for his facial swelling which they are not sure what it is from but the swelling is going down. This time he did very well despite having his first panic attack. Luckily Paul the assistant was very cool and actually got him to take blood and give him a shot without him having to be held down, the first time ever. But while he was waiting to be seen he was shaking like it was 20 below zero, he started breaking out in hives, he kept going to the bathroom to wash his hands, he couldn’t catch his breath. I sat there and wanted to cry. Did he learn panic from me? God I hope not! I am hoping it was just a normal reaction to the circumstances. Now it is 11:30 AM and he is sleeping. I am suposed to be at work but I want to watch him closely today and plus my nerves need to heal from today.
I did really well, I had a stressful morning but nothing developed into fear or panic! I dealt with it straight forward and I am taking the attitude “If you are coming panic then come on and be done with it!” I think that attitude which I have learned from my two programs EasyCalm and Pass Through Panic: Freeing yourself From Anxiety and Fear.
