I'm so sorry to hear about the job. unfortunately nothing is guarenteed, but it really sucks that they didn't even give proper notice. I hope you'll find something else.

Hi - my daughter is 6 & has had Panic Disorder with agoraphobia since she was 3. She has had 2 epidodes now - she was able to get through the first in about 4 weeks, and the second was a little harder as we were finally learning what her challenge is and how to deal with it. I completely agree with your blog about chosing how to live - we are trying to teach her that everyone is born with some challenge - it's all in how you deal with it. She has panic attacks - but she can learn to flow with them and can choose not to have agoraphobia.

I am so sorry that you lost your job - but your blog is so positive & hopeful, and I know you will come out of this on the positive side. Congrats on the new apartment - keep on refusing to be afraid!!

What state do you live in, does your state have special medical plan for those who become unemployed ? Have you filed for unemployment insurance ?

I know some States have programs to provide medical coverage for those that don't have it; I live in Canada where the government insures people against medical and some pharmaceutical costs, so can't say I know how it is feels to be without benefits.

The US needs to change the way it does things, here in Canada you can only fire someone without proper notice (or pay en lieu of notice) for just cause...If you lay someone off, you still have to give them proper notice or equivalent period of pay, depending on the length of service.

Giving someone the sack without a good reason or forewarning them as far in advance as possible causes needless anxiety and worry...

I hope you find a job you like soon Michelle

Hello,

I just wanted to extend a "sorry", as well. I've been following your blog for some time now due to my struggle with depression and anxiety. This same thing happened to me roughly 3 weeks ago. I lost my full-time engineering position after my company decided I was a liability due to my medical "issues". I had never discussed with them that it was depression but I think they assumed this. I am the primary breadwinner, single father of two children, and getting married again in 2 months. There is never an easy time for someone to lose a job so I feel for you. I was able to find another position in about a month but it will still set us back for a very long time. Also, like you, I was concerned about my medical benefits due to medication and therapy.

Good luck and God bless,

James

Oh god, I'm so sorry for you! I really hope things work out, I'd be totally useless at managing a situation like that, I think when it eventually happens to me (and It's gonna happen one day) I'm just gonna have a breakdown!
*hugs* You have all my prayers and best wishes!
